TV star and presenter Keith Lemon racked up the most errors with 48 mistakes. His English transgressions include spelling ‘thanks’ with an ‘f’ and not using capital letters to start a sentence.

Lemon aside, the most frequent offender was singer Tulisa Contostavlos, who made 23 mistakes in her last fifty tweets, averaging almost one mistake in every two tweets. Tulisa often replaced ‘for’ with the numerical symbol and missed out apostrophes when using contractions such as ‘I’m’.

Lily Allen came in as the second-worst in the list, making 19 mistakes. Her mistakes included not using full stops or apostrophes for possession and spelling errors such as ‘propoganda’.

Lord Sugar tallied up 17 mistakes, putting him in third place in the list, with errors such as forgetting to add the ‘n’ on the letter ‘a’ before a word that starts with a vowel and spelling mistakes such as ‘thier’.

Gary Lineker proved to be the most literate celebrity by being the only one not to make any mistakes in his last fifty tweets. Russell Brand, Wayne Rooney and Harry Styles each only made one error and Piers Morgan—known for his criticism of others’ grammar and spelling, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Branson were among the celebrities who only made two mistakes.

A quick note to end on…

Of course, there are many factors to take into account when writing on Twitter such as the word limitation, so we’re not taking these numbers as a measurement of someone’s intelligence—it’s all just a bit of fun!
